When a DBS application has been completed & certificate is issued the ECB receive an electronic notification to advise if the certificate contains any offences/convictions - we are not made aware of any specific details.
The ECB Safeguarding team are simply asking to see the certificate so that we can assess if the information detailed is relevant for safeguarding. Many offences/convictions have no impact on safeguarding but unless we have seen sight of the certificate and completed our vetting checks then we can not make that decision.
Unfortunately if the team never see the certificate we are left in a position where we know there is something on it, but not what it is. This means we have to issue temporary suspensions at that point.
As soon as you receive your certificate to the safeguarding team at Lord's and we will deal with it as promptly as possible, then post the certificate back to you via recorded delivery. The turnaround time for this is usually around a week but can be longer.
