Coaches and Club Welfare Officers are required to safeguarding training in order to take up their role. The two courses available are the Safeguarding & Protecting Children course (SPC) run by UK Coaching, which is a face-to-face course, and the online version, Safeguarding Young Cricketers (SYC).
Everyone has to have done the face-to-face element at some point, so that would mean attending the SPC course or the coach pathway course (which includes SYC). This will be the same for the new coach ed courses.
The SYC is then used as a refresher every 3 years.
Club WOs may be exempt from having to do the course if they have an appropriate equivalent Safeguarding qualification, but this is at the discretion of the CoWO. They must do Safe Hands though.
A valid ECB DBS must be held at all times to accompany this training.
