Q:

What are the ECB's rules around clubs/coaches arranging transport to & from games for children?

A:

Coaches should under no circumstances be giving lifts to colts players by themselves.

It may be possible for coaches to give lifts to players AND their parents, however this is not clear cut and is best avoided where possible.

The reason for this is that the club itself should not be involved in organising lifts. Private arrangements are ok, but if the club is involved, then someone needs to be monitoring MOTs, insurance, whether the driver has driving offences and so on. It becomes very complicated.

We would recommend each club puts a clear policy in place and this is communicated to all parents at the beginning of the season along with the schedule of matches.
