Signing children in and out of sessions

Q:

Are there any guidelines and/or minimum age of children to be signed in and out of training sessions?

A:

We do not have any official rules on this in regard to the age of the child or what exactly every club should be doing, as clearly circumstances will be different from club to club – nobody knows their young players and ground/location better than the clubs themselves.

We would therefore encourage the use of common sense here – perhaps for some clubs it would make sense for there to be a pick up point regardless of age, for others it wouldn’t. We would recommend the  club should at least be aware of which children are going home on their own, if any, and to consider the implications – are they crossing any busy roads? What is the area like?

It would certainly be a good idea to have written consent from any child’s parents allowing you to release them, if that is the policy you put in place.
